Wang De gave a report on the theme "My Father Wang Youting and the Animals Migrating Westward" to teachers and students. Talking about the process of his father Wang Youting leading the animals to move westward, Wang De said that on the eve of the westward migration, Wang Youting and the staff of the livestock farm unanimously decided that the animals must be moved westward. Animals that can migrate are sent to Chongqing. On December 9, 1937, the Japanese army had begun to attack Nanjing. The "animal army" set out from Dingjiaqiao, arrived at the Xiaguan River, boarded a boat, and spent the entire night crossing the Yangtze River. In order to get away from the battlefield as soon as possible, the westward moving team did not dare to delay at all. There were many difficulties on the way. The livestock and poultry required a huge amount of feed, the team moved slowly, livestock got sick and died from time to time, and wolves invaded the mountainous areas from time to time. The whole team traveled day and night, only putting on clothes and resting for a while late at night. Wang De told the story that Wang Youting's team was robbed by local bandits and robbers and escorted by Communist guerrillas. Wang Youting's team saved the day many times, but they also encountered Japanese air attacks and suffered heavy losses. The team had to change its route and took a year to reach Yichang, Hubei Province. Fortunately, with the help of Lu Zuofu, general manager of Minsheng Group, they boarded a ship in Yichang and successfully arrived in Chongqing. When they arrived in Chongqing, only 12 of the 16 employees Wang Youting brought from Nanjing were left. The arrival of the“animal army”was warmly welcomed by teachers and students. Luo Jialun talked with Mr. Wang Youting all night, and regarded Wang Youting as "a meritorious minister of CUHK". The story of "Animal Army" became a good talk and caused a strong shock.
